Wiz LED lights are an excellent value proposition for anyone looking to get into smart home lighting without a significant upfront investment. They offer a great balance of features, ease of use, and affordability, making them a strong competitor to more expensive brands like Philips Hue. While they may have some minor connectivity quirks and a slightly less robust ecosystem, their performance and price point make them a top choice for most consumers. What Makes Wiz Stand Out?Affordability: This is arguably Wiz's biggest selling point. Their bulbs and light strips are significantly cheaper than comparable products from other major brands. You can often buy multiple Wiz bulbs for the price of a single Philips Hue bulb.No Hub Required: Unlike many other smart lighting systems, Wiz lights connect directly to your home's Wi-Fi network. This simplifies the setup process and eliminates the need to purchase a separate, expensive hub.Good Lighting Quality: For the price, the light quality is impressive. Wiz bulbs offer a wide range of colors (millions of options) and adjustable white tones, from warm to cool. While some users note that certain colors like yellows and oranges can be a bit washed out compared to premium brands, the blues, greens, and reds are generally vibrant and appealing. The white light is bright and accurate.User-Friendly App: The Wiz app is generally well-regarded. It's intuitive and provides all the basic controls you'd expect, including on/off, dimming, color selection, and scheduling. It also has pre-set "scenes" and "rhythms" that can mimic natural light cycles or set a specific mood.Smart Home Integration: Wiz lights work seamlessly with major voice assistants like Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri. This allows for convenient, hands-free control of your lighting.Potential Drawbacks to ConsiderInitial Setup Can Be Spotty: While the hub-less setup is a plus, some users have reported occasional difficulty pairing the lights with the app for the first time. This can sometimes require multiple attempts, but once connected, they tend to be reliable.Connectivity and Wi-Fi Dependency: Since Wiz lights rely on Wi-Fi, they can be a bit more susceptible to network issues. If you have a very large number of smart devices on your network, it could potentially cause some slowdown. Additionally, a Wi-Fi outage means you lose smart control of the lights.Less Advanced Features: While the app is good, it lacks some of the more advanced or "pro-user" features found in competitors' ecosystems. For example, some users have noted the lack of geofencing (lights turning on/off based on your location) or a limited selection of dynamic lighting effects.Matter Integration (Mixed Results): While Wiz has embraced the Matter standard for smart home compatibility, user feedback on its implementation has been mixed. Some have reported issues and a lack of reliable support, suggesting it may have been a rushed integration. For most users, this is not a significant issue as the Wiz app and direct voice assistant integrations work well.Summary: Who Are Wiz Lights For?First-Time Smart Light Buyers: If you're new to smart home technology and want to experiment with smart lighting without spending a lot of money, Wiz is an ideal starting point.Budget-Conscious Consumers: For those who want the convenience of smart lighting but don't want to break the bank, Wiz offers unbeatable value.Renters or Simple Setups: The lack of a hub makes Wiz a great choice for renters or anyone who wants a simple, no-fuss setup in a few rooms. If you're looking for the absolute best in smart lighting performance, an extensive feature set, or a robust ecosystem with dozens of integrations, you might want to look at more premium brands. However, for the vast majority of users, Wiz LED lights provide a fantastic and affordable way to illuminate and personalize your home.

Fickle app setup, strip itself is awesome!
I love fairy lights and now I love light strips! I got both Wiz versions, gradient and single color. Both work great and look fabulous. I got them for Prime day but haven't installed them as we plan on moving, so I can't speak to the mounting process. It took several tries and some patience though to get them to connect to the Wiz V2 app, as for some reason they tried to connect to a different "hub" / app first, then created a matter login. I don't understand a word, but kept trying. Push power button to turn them off. Push and hold button about ten seconds until the strip comes back on gently pulsating blue. Now it is in setup mode. And you gotta now your wifi password. I several times got an exclamation point in the app and strip blinked reddish. Kept repeating, trying, at some point everything just worked. Not sure yet if I prefer the gradient strip to the way more economically priced one color strip.

Great Value (with a few important notes)
Overall a great value (especially on sale).Brightness is fairly strong though the LED density isn’t out of this world. Setup with Wiz is super easy and had two setup and connected as under counter lighting in ~15 minutes. Two notes:-The paper backing seems to peel the adhesive off the strip if you’re not careful! Make sure the push the backing down first back into the strip first then peal.-Google home connection had issues to start. One strip connected to Google home right away. The other one required me to unlink and relink my Wiz account. After that I’ve had no issues.

Easy + simple light strip
Nice, basic color-changing light strip for reasonable price. We placed around the back of our TV with plenty to spare. Easy install. Like the on/off switch. You cannot select the color. It rotates through a color changing cycle.

Trust the negative reviews
I was looking for an affordable LED strip to put around my TV stand and was drawn to these because they have Matter support. I should’ve taken the negative reviews into consideration before I purchased these.Pros:- Bright, great colors. These look great, they have much more color options compared to cheap RGB strips.- Easy to place. No issues with the adhesive, no kinking or rolling or anything, they went on smooth.- The Wiz app is decent, and allows for a wide range of color options, scenes, scheduling, and more.Cons:- Connection… so these are worthless without the app. You can turn them on and off with the physical button but that’s about it. So, what’s the problem then? These connected to the app fine, but within 24 hours they completely lost the ability to connect to the app. Not through Bluetooth, not through WiFi, and not through Matter.Side note on the Matter connectivity: you need to activate Matter connectivity in the app after it’s been paired and set up with the Wiz app. So you can’t just use this in Apple HomeKit like you could any other Matter device. Really dumb if you ask me; defeats the purpose of it being a Matter device.Back to the con. No amount of troubleshooting got these to reconnect to the app after the connectivity failed. They’re useless now. If you want an LED strip light that can only make basic colors, you’re better off spending $5 on any old dumb LED strip. If you care about changing colors, setting up different lighting schemes and automations, spend the money on Govee or Phillips Hue instead.

Bad color representation
The media could not be loaded. Not nearly as good as my other strip fromwiz colors aren’t the cleanest they look off compared to the rest of my wiz lights

Lovely ambience!
Wow, these work perfectly! They integrate very well with Google Home. I've got them attached to the piano to create a nice ambience.
