Excellent WiFi extender from TP-Link.
Excellent WiFi extender from TP-Link.This is a self contained WiFi repeater/extender that works flawlessly. It's my first piece of TP-Link network gear and after a little research, this seemed to be one of the items I kept coming back to.It's a plain white box with 4 LED indicators along the bottom showing power, link status and which of the WiFi signals is currently connected and being forwarded from this device ( 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz )After reading the large instruction sheet, it seemed pretty straighforward and it was. I opted to use the Android app. called ' Tether '. After creating a Login & Password, it's as easy as following the on-screen prompts on your phone. As long as you have the router password and know the SSID you're golden. I was up and running with a phone and a tablet out in the back garden, a long way from the router wifi source with a decently strong signal. It's way stronger and faster than the previous Netgear repeater, by no less than six times faster and a full strong signal strength.I've been using it all afternoon since setting it up and have no issues at all.It is very unobtrusive and has no external antenna like the outgoing Netgear model which is a big plus, it's very lightweight and runs fairly cool. There's a little heat when under load, but barely noticeable and nothing to be concerned with. The LEDs are plain warm white when all is working well, and may change to red if there's an issue. It appears to be a fit and forget device which I appreciate.Overall, I'm extremely impressed with my first TP-Link device and really is great value for money.

Does what it says on the box ;-)
This is a great low cost switch. I had to rebuild my editing and post production studio. You can imagine the amount of network cables running about. I originally bought the 'unmanaged version" because it was cheaper but found when using multiple ethernet items some of them slowed.I switched it for this mamanged one and instantly saw an improvement. I knoiw have 5 running the studio machines, wifi, computers, speakers, recorders, printers, scanners blah blah. What i love about these switches is that if i have a slow old printer on the network or a slow old computer ... it compensates and just send signal at the speed it needs 10/100 or 1000Mbps. Thanks to these switches i have the fibre broadband in 4 rooms and they all run now at full speed ... even if we are all using at the same time. Lastly, I had a friend who is a technophobe ! He had wires and splitters all over the place from his router to run his heating, Sky, TV, Amazon Cube, Computer, Wifi, Streamer, etc. A real mess. I bought him one of these and he stripped all the wiring out. Had just one cable from his router to this switch and then plugged all the items into this switch. Everything now all run at full speed. No setting up. Straight out of the box ... plugged it in ... plugged the ethernet cables in bingo bango all up and running. Fantastic bit of kit for the price.

Works great but dim status indicators
It does the job as intended. The only criticism I have is the lack of brightness of the LED status indicators of which there are five. Rather dim if unit is in a well lit room. But the important thing is it works!!

Exactly what I needed
This simple to use WiFi signal extender. We already have the all singing and dancing model which is as simple to setup via the tethering app. We live in a very old cottage with walls designed to keep invaders out, but that also applies to beaming a WiFi signal to all parts of the property. We now have 100% coverage throughout the property. Setup is straightforward using the tethering app and takes a few minutes to get connected. Brilliant piece of equipment.

Not particularly effective
Looking back on my experience of using these range extenders ( bought two) I can only laugh when I re-read the listing details. "Easy Setup" it says. Well, the first one was but the second one was a bit of a nightmare and involved a long web chat with TP-link support. It's too long a story to relate here but the TP-Link support staff concluded that the second one must be faulty and suggested I return it.I took a day or two to think about what to do and in the end decided to have one last go. So I re-set the second one and started again and this time it worked. According to the Tether App both are perfectly positioned and are working well. If that is the case I'd love to know why I still suffer from poor signal strength and although my broadband coverage has improved it is not all that stable. I am a bit better off than I was before but having spent £50 I don't feel as though I've got my money's worth. Admittedly I live in house which is not exactly wi-fi friendly (it's old with thick stone walls and is on three levels) but that is why I bought these. The listing makes them sound like the perfect solution but in my experience that is far from accurate and I'm now left wondering what else I can do to improve my home broadband.

Amazingly good!
Brilliant product. I had brought the mercury extender previously - totally bad in my opinion but this was amazing. I have the sky 150 mbps broadband and on the extender it gives me 140 mpbs. Speed is amazing. Even in the kitchen (which is a tricky spot), it goes 110 mpbs which is amazing. Totally recommend. It's an investment.

Brilliant!
This works well. I've tried two others, at a similar price, which were hopeless so wasn't feeling very optimistic but the setup was easy to follow and I now have WiFi all over my flat. I think this is a well made product.
