Szechuan peppercorns, for those who aren't aware, are actually the seed casings of the prickly ash tree. The casings are pinkish and have that distinctive hot/numbing taste, so redolent of Szechuan cuisine. There's nothing quite like it. The actual seeds, are little black things, don't taste of anything much but have a gritty unpleasant texture, like eggshell... or grit. If you get them in your food you won't be particularly happy.These Szechuan peppercorns are fine, expect for the fact that the seeds haven't been properly removed from all of them, so you have to go through every single one to ensure that none of the seeds end up in your finished dish. This is annoying and adds time to your meal prep. If somebody has given me the choice, before buying these, of spending a couple of pounds extra on a product without seeds, I would have done so.

This was the first time i had ever used these, they added a really good flavour to my curry, i will definitely be making it again. Would recommend.

So, I've seen these in a lot of Asian cooking recipes and finally decided to give it a go. Man, what a game changer. Aromatic and just on another level. This was packaged well, arrived fast and I will buy again.
