Great little camera body - simple to use with very good image quality

I was on the lookout for a small, lightweight micro 4/3 camera to replace my aging lumix gx85 which I used as a backup camera and as a smaller body to take anywhere when I don't need or want to carry lots of heavy gear around. The choice was between this and the lumix gx9 and when the Oly came up at a really good price I took the plunge and bought my first Olympus body. For my needs the dumbed down menus are perfect as I used them once to set the camera up how I wanted and will probably never use them again which is great because Olympus' menu system is not know for being easy to learn and navigate. The AP setting on the mode dial is also a great idea as it allows me to use some of Olympus' more advanced features like live composite without having to dive into the menus. I used this for a firework display recently and it made it easy to capture the light trails from the fireworks - see attached photos. The built in image stabilisation also works well and I've been able to take photos in low light without pushing the iso too high.Image quality is also good and seems to be on par with all the other 20Mp m4/3rds cameras including the more expensive high end models. JPEGs are nice straight out of the camera but I tend to shoot raw which allows me to get the best out of the m43 sensor using dxo photolab 4 (tip: deep prime noise processing in that software can hold on to a lot of details while cleaning noise when you do need to use iso settings of 3200 or greater)It is a great little camera body with easy to use menus and controls, very good image quality and lots of advanced features. It's in my camera bag when I travel or go out on a day's shooting as a backup to my main camera and it goes out with me when I don't want to lug a lot of gear around if I'm going to an event or a family gathering or what have you. Paired up with a nice bright prime lens it's great for indoor or low light photography, and with a kit lens or a macro it's perfect to carry with me when out shooting wildlife where it gets used to shoot everything I can't do with the main camera.

good camera

ive just started photography as a hobbie . was looking and watching diffrent reviews . i did order the nikon d3500 , but after waiting 4 month as out of stock i orded the olympus o m d 10 mark 1V . i am not dissapionted . what a great camera . light to handle , sturdy body . i was a bit worried that it might be to technical and more advanced for a begginer . how wrong i was , i looked at reviews and training vidoes for settings etc . i found this camera straight forward to operate . youve got the auto mode which is great , ive started to use other modes now and im very happy with the out come and quality of the photos taken . im very pleased with this upgrade from what i was looking at the beginning . a great camera to start with .

Great camera

First let me make it clear: I don't like smart phones much (except for making calls) so won't compare this camera to a phone. I bought my first camera 62 years ago so I am an old school photographer. Everything was manual then and you had to learn the basics about exposure and focus etc. No ISO settings then only film speeds and developing and printing took ages but was a magical experience. Well times have changed and I am happy to move on with the advancement of technology. This camera is a good balance between the large DSLR and small compact camera. The settings are numerous and yes I probably won't use half of them but they are available for those who feel inclined to do so. The camera is not too heavy but solid enough to hold firmly. They say it is a bit plastic but it doesn't seem obvious. The results are excellent and satisfactory with all my lenses. It also looks a bit old fashioned which reminds me of my early photographic days. No doubt there are better cameras available and definitely a lot worse but I am personally more than happy with the EM10. Cameras are a personal taste so it's a case of finding one you are happy with. No matter how good a camera you won't take good pictures with it if you don't like it. I would give it 5 stars but there is always room for improvement.

A pretty decent camera for the price

I bought the body only to replace an old Panasonic Lumix G6. I was specifically looking for a micro four-thirds so that I could save money on replacing the lens as well. The camera was delivered very quickly and I enjoyed getting used to the features, although I've barely touched the surface of what it's capable of so far.So far I've only used it for a couple of social events (so people photos) and a city break, so not pushed it yet. But it's performed well up to now. Some night photos didn't come out too well but that was most likely due to there being too much movement, so a 'user' error rather than a fault of the camera. The back screen isn't as flexible in its positioning as my previous camera and I am a little concerned that it cannot be turned over to protect it from scratches. But it's still pretty good and it has a nice feature which makes taking selfies a little easier. It took me a few attempts to successfully connect to the App (OI Share). The Wi-Fi seems to be sensitive to VPN software and I had to turn off 'Connect on Demand' in my phone settings. After that it was fine and easy to use.Although I'm not a camera expert by any means, overall I'd say it's a good buy and I'm happy with it.
