My animals learned to simply jump over the mat and on to my counters. Also, it takes a second to go off, so by the time the animal steps on the matt and continuously walks, the mat beeps and rarely gets the chance go off, before the animal has moved. We bought two mats and we had high hopes that this would train our cats to not get on the kitchen counters, however, they still get on the counters. They simply jumped over the mat or walked quickly across the mat.

I bought this to stop my dog from getting on myCouch when we're at work. It works, kind of. It shocked me good during set up, but when I put it on my couch, it doesn't shock the cats or dog (maybe the leather hurts it's conductivity). It did work on the countertops. My advice is read the set up instructions well so you don't inadvertently shock your self.

This mat did not work to keep my cats out of the bedroom. They were able to freely walk over the mat and even lie down on it without a shock being delivered. Per the instructions it states if your animal is too fuzzy on the paws it might not conduct a shock. I trimmed my cats paws and still no conduction. Returning this product.

Mr Ava always plays innocent when she gets into something she wasn't suppose to! So I had no choice but to buy one training pad for her. This worked really well and I am going to buy one more for my cat Olly. This pad kept Ava well off the new couch where she loves to hang out and sit on the fixed place when no one is watching her. Once we are back home, we close it and put it under the couch. Ava is clever and I thought this would not stop her but I was wrong! Obviously she is not smart enough to turn it off. :)

On/Off button does not work right. Turns itself back on shocking people that try to move it. After the animals get the idea, I take the battery out because it won't shut off.

Works awesome, just wish that the cat didnt have to touch two of the lines at the same time for it to get zapped. She has figured out her way around this.
