Noticeably improved air quality

I bought the Renpho to replace a Honeywell Enviracare 13520 that I had for 20 years. After running twenty-four hours a day for 20 years the bearings finally started to go. Since they discontinued the original filter over ten years ago, that meant buying three of the currently available round HEPA filters, stacking them and using the provided foam spacer to make up the difference. Not cheap even if they did last a couple of years. I figured it was time.I really like the Renpho. It has a screen pre-filter which you can manually clean. In our house full of animals this is a big deal. The typical carbon impregnated materials that usually represent the first filter don’t vacuum easily and are not washable. That in and of itself sold me on the Renpho. The other three filters are replaceable and seem to be well made and easily exchanged. When the Renpho arrived and after I removed, unwrapped, and replaced the filters I unplugged my old Honeywell and replaced it with the Renpho. I put it on auto and it almost immediately went to red and ramped the fan speed to max. I closed our bedroom door and in about a half an hour it was showing blue lights and cruising along on low. Air quality was noticeably better than it was with the old filter. I don’t know if it’s the activated charcoal or just a combination of all four filters, but the air quality was noticeably better.Noise level: when the Renpho is on max speed it’s about as loud as the Honeywell was at speed 1. Seems to move about an equal amount of air. The Honeywell was a much larger unit. The Renpho on speed 1 is whisper quiet.Speaking of the auto mod: I just leave it in auto mode. The lights aren’t bright enough to bother me at night and neither is the occasional fan speed change as it adjusts to air quality. If that bothers you, be aware that the only way to turn the lights off (that I’ve found) is to turn the AQ feature off. If you put it in sleep mode it turns it off automatically and only runs the fan on low. It also turns the indicator lights off, not just the air quality lights. Also, the air sensor is sensitive. Most of the time it has the unit at speed 1, AQ lights blue. If you make the bed or spend time in the room, it will sense the dust you bring up and kick into speed 2 or speed 3. I’ve even seen it switch fan speeds simply because the cat walked by the unit. If you’re OCD that kind of thing might drive you nuts. I recommend just turning the AQ feature off and set the fan to your desired speed. I can fixate on stuff but the AQ doesn’t bother me. It lets m know it’s doing its job. Will this unit last twenty years? I have no idea. My first Honeywell 13520 only lasted a year and was replaced under warranty. The replacement is the one that lasted 20 years. I do believe that the Renpho is doing a better job with way less power consumption. The Renpho is rated at 50 watts, the Honeywell was rated at 180 watts. Combined with the AQ feature I figure to save some money in electricity every month. So far very happy with the unit. Did a lot research before I bought a replacement air purifier and it appears to have paid off.Edit: I should clarify that in sleep mode the sleep mode indicator and power indicator lights stay on. Fan speed and AQ lights are off. As I stated I just leave it in AQ mode at night because it doesn't bother me.

3 years old, still going strong 💪

Seriously, my husband can be in the room and poot next to it, and it will detect it 😄 and starts glowing orange lights or red lights, working harder to clean the air! This one has the best filtering capability, with so many layers...actual charcoal screen, hepa filter, carbon filter, mesh screen, etc. The way it detects something in the air is sooo crazy to see! The different color glowing lights let you know how strong the odor is and how hard it's working to clean it. Not just odors either, stirring up some dust while cleaning, dog or cat fur gets near it..it detects it and works away. This is when it is on auto-mode. Perfect for my dogs and when I'm burning dinners, or smoke or odors come in from outside. Replacement filters are not expensive and last a long time for me. You can find them made by other manufacturers that work just as well as brand name. I'd say the filters last about 6 mos dependent on how much is being cleaned in the air, of course. You can clean the screen and filters by hand, if you can't afford a full replacement set. I did this a few times. When you do this, remember to hold down the red lights on the end to reset them as if it were a new filter replaced. The generic filters are about $25 now compared to the brand name that are now (ahem) $75, and I can see in my purchase history that I have replaced the entire filtering twice since 2019, once in 2020 for $26, so went through 3 filters, since Nov. 2019!!! It is a sturdy machine and not heavy, it won't topple over easily, and has a nice rounded rectangular design (not boxy). I had a smaller Levoit cylinder-shaped filter before this one, and the Levoit kept falling over and getting knocked off the table, because it was too light. I'm pretty sure it broke, since I went to buy this Renpho. I like that the top of this one is shaped so that it's easy to grab it and move to another room, if wanted. It's a soft quiet air sound when in blue lightest cleaning mode, but even at the highest red cleaning mode, it's still fairly quiet. The lighting can be turned off, but the blue light is pleasant at night, so I leave it on. I used to run this 24/7 non-stop on auto-mode...no problems for 4 years!! I just started trying to cut back on utilities usage, so I now make use of its timer feature! Highly recommend this model air purifier. Get it if it's still around!!
