Increased throttle response
It gave my 1992 302 Ford F150 a more immediate response in terms of acceleration. Be sure to time your engine your after installing the box. The MSD box causes it to retard by a few degrees. Be sure to order the 8874 wiring harness if you also own an f150 of that generation to save yourself from splicing wires.

Fantastic performance
I installed this on an older 95 LT1 v8 it really helped give it a boost in spark and car runs well.Note this was not a stock engine. It has a large cam, ported heads and Headers.Another note. I also have the MSD coil but still use the stock opti spark distributer.one thing that makes a big difference is using the correct oil seal on the distributer once I finally installed the proper oil seal that looks like a standard oil seal all the problems with the opti spark went away after cleaning the oil out of the inside. Don't need to waste money on a 595.00 MSD distributer. Iv'e only heard bad reviews about them. this opti spark distributer was only 45.99

Wired it up and the car started. Everything you need is included but you may want a mounting bracket depending on where you want to put it.

Quality Duraspark ignition upgrade for my 1988 Jeep YJ Wrangler 4.2L
Quality Duraspark ignition upgrade for my 1988 Jeep YJ Wrangler 4.2L. Lots of YJ owners go with an HEI distributor but I preferred to keep my original Duraspark distributor and use the Digital 6AL MSD Ignition because it is much better quality with more features and benefits. Some of those include, multiple spark, built in adjustable rev limiter, powerful spark at higher RPMs, lower voltage needed for cranking and extras like the capability of later adding the Adjustable Timing module if you find the need to retard/advance on the fly. If you’re really serious about your Jeep and want a top notch ignition, look no further the MSD 6425 is the perfect box for your ride.

... bought this unit to replace a 6420 which went bad on me
I bought this unit to replace a 6420 which went bad on me. This model is digital, and replaced the defective unit perfectly. My 64 Corvette is now back on the road. I have a MSD distributor with a mechanical tach drive so setting the rev-limiter is still a mystery to me. The installation directions indicate how to set the rev-limiter with an MSD or electronic tach. I would give them five stars but product support could not help with my old one. They wanted me to send it in for a diagnosis. I know from past experience that service takes a couple months to get an item back. I didn't want to give up the rest of summer so I bought another unit.

Awesome product
I received DOA MSD control boxes from Amazon, however the third box I received finally did the trick! At first, I believe it was the installation or how my car was pre-wired, however after calling MSD and troubleshooting with them, I was convinced it was the MSD box. I have a smoother ride, more power/torque felt in the low/mid range, starts easier and faster (it already started great, but you can feel/hear the difference with the digital 6AL). Gas mileage, surprisingly, increased. Well worth the investment. My car is a 1973, Datsun 240Z with triple weber carbs, headers, and pertronix 1 elec. ignition. Please note I changed my Pertronix Coil to an MSD coil during troubleshooting before realizing the Box was the culprit, so not sure, but I doubt if the Pertronix coil is compatible with the 6AL.
