Over the last few months I have been renovating a property and I have lost count of the number of times I have needed a simple flat bracket but have had to make do/mend with flattening out an angled bracket; or using a different fitting that was not meant for that purpose.At last these flat brackets showed up so now I can go back over my bodge repairs where I have used badly straightened angle brackets to patch together two pieces of timber/wood - now I can replace all of them with the proper item.These are decent brackets - 20 of them in the box - about 8 centimetres in length, and 1.7 centimetres in width with 4 counter sunk holes; simple to use - wish I had got some earlier.

I'm doing up some old IKEA cupboards to fit out my garage as a woodturning studio.I got the cupboards from a charity shop that was closing down, so they were taken apart to get them all in my car.So where parts are not even or need a bit of strengthening I've found these straight brackets very useful and easy to fit. I like the fact the holes are counter-sunk as that keeps them as flat as possible, and the overall finish is nice and smooth.

I ordered the 80 x 17 x 1.75mm flat brackets, packed in a box of 20 pieces. Each bracket has four 5mm countersunk holes to take screws. The brackets have rounded ends and no rough edges. The surfaces are smooth on both sides, though there is a some water staining which comes off with a little rubbing. The brackets are sturdy and I could not flex them by hand. There is no information on the quality of stainless steel used for these brackets, just a statement they are anti-corrosion and rustproof.These are decent flat brackets that I am sure will be perfectly fine for indoor and outdoor use, however it will take some time before I know just how rustproof they are.
