Big Cat, Little Cat: (Caldecott Honor Book)

You just can't read this book without crying, I mean my husband didn't but he is like half robot. I cried, my mom cried, baby didn't cry but I'll give it a few years. Great book but have a tissue ready for your mom hormones.

Gave to my oldest daughter in college, it made her cry. The cream colored Cat she grew up with is getting older and we have found a small black kitten to keep him company because his Bonded sister passed from liver failure. Its a short book suitable for all ages, might be best to find a ex libary copy to save money. Is worth the full price as a gift though.

I had thought about giving this away for a baby shower, but it was too cute to give away. The story is a little sad but it's very realistic.

Amazing work

I cry and laugh every gosh darned time I read this book! The cycle of life is poignantly told about 2 cats and how they were and lived and left to walk over that Rainbow Bridge. It is purrrrrfect for teaching little ones about how pets eventually leave for good and then that little lesson will eventually transmit over to people.Funny illustrations make me smile! It is so so so beautiful in its simplicity!

This is *the* perfect book to teach your little ones about the circle of life. It tugs at my hearstrings (and hers) to read it with my daughter, but that's life. I like how it addresses the topic of death in very natural, understandable way that is not morbid at all.Also, it's very well written to help children learning to read. Simple wording that pairs closely with the illustrations makes it easy for them to parse and vocalize. Love this book.

A favourite read in our house. A gentle book about change and dealing with loss.

「しろさんとちびねこ」の原書。これくらいなら英語でもいけるかと購入。実際、シンプルな単語&シンプルな絵で構成されていて、あっという間に読めるのに、心にずんと残りました。繋がれていく命のバトン。子育て中の自分には、この格闘の日々が崇高なものに思えてきて、また同じように育ててくれた親への感謝の気持ちも溢れてきて…いずれにせよ大切にしたい一冊になりました。海外からの取り寄せ品は、一度乱丁が届き、がっかりした経験があるので心配でしたが、こちらはとても良かったです。贈り物にも良さそう。リピします。

This book resonated with me so much. I just adore it, and have bought several as gifts. It appeals to all ages.

Simple illustrations and also simple story...but what meaningful message of love and comprehension. It's a very sweet and balanced book. I loved it, my children loved it as well.
