I’ve poured through this beautiful story multiple times
I’ve poured through this beautiful story multiple times, and despite its wintry depictions of the chilly air, the ice, and the snow, the best way to describe this book is: warmth.Love itself is invisible, much like the wind. You can see the effects of love in actions and words. You can feel love. But to be able to see it visually is hard to say. As I read this story, the love between Mama and (adorable) child penguin was in plain sight to see. Even though the two spend the majority of their time apart in this book, their bond is strong and it carries across the cold antarctic seas. Not only do I adore the story itself, I also absolutely love the illustrations. The gentle color palette is so pleasing to the eye. Jeanette’s slightly loose line work doesn’t come across messy, but instead gives a sense of calm relaxedness, without a loss of wonderful little details. I could get lost in the world of this little penguin! This book is so tender and sweet, it makes my heart ache in such a good way. You really ought to read it.

and about the joy of her return
This is a touching story about a penguin child and mother who keep in touch while Mama is away on a trip. In a tender and relatable way it describes the child, Kipling's, sadness in her absence, how thoughts of Mama and correspondence allow him to connect and feel hopeful, and about the joy of her return. It is told in a warm and charming way and matched by the fun and charming illustration. Both child and parent would love it. It is a lovely tale that is sure to become a classic and is also a perfect book for a child with a working or traveling parent. I could also seeing it being a special read for a child dealing with loss of any family member.

Great for working mamas
As a flight attendant who is gone a lot for work, it was awesome to finally have a book for traveling mothers to read. My girls love it and we read it before every work trip. Highly recommend.

A gift for both the leaver and the one left
Too many children’s books talk down to the kids. This book is different. It is relatable. Who hasn’t missed someone? Who hadn’t wished for a message from the missing one? Who hadn’t been delighted when the loved one returned? This book sums up these feelings with beautiful pictures and heart-warming words. I am in love with this book and you will too. And, I will bet it will help your little one “survive” the away time too. Thanks to Ms Bradley for a wonder gift.

A sweet comfort to a child
“Love, Mama” by Jeanette Bradley is a sweet tale that is great to have on your kids’ bookshelf especially if you are a mama that travels. A sweet “see you soon” present for your little one! I particularly enjoyed seeing pillow mama, picture mama, and snow mama as well as the animal mail system in the lovely, soft illustrations. And even though I’m not headed out on a trip, I will be giving this to my 3 year old for Valentine’s Day.

such a sweet story
This is such a sweet and tender tribute to mothers and their babies. Sometimes mothers have to travel! This beautifully illustrated and lyrical picture book takes the reader through the initial emotions of little Kipling missing his mother to the package in the middle to his mother returning home again. Sometimes a parent will gift their children something upon their return from a trip, but for me this book is the perfect before-the-trip gift.

Great for kids who will be away from a parent!
Excellent for when I was away! My kids loved getting this book in the mail! It helped my almost 5 year old to understand that mommy was coming back! My 8 year old really loved that she was able to read it to her little brother.
