Bass Fishing With Henry Gilbey [DVD]

I bought this DVD as I'm about to go on a fishing holiday and want to improve my lure fishing technique. I'm a beginner and, having bought Gilbey's excellent DK Eyewitness book 'Fishing,' thought that this would help me catch the elusive bass. I'm very impressed and feel more confident after watching this.Unlike some instructional DVDs, Gilbey resists the impulse to overload the viewer with technical data and I was pleased to see that he recommends simple kit and doesn't baffle novices like myself with jargon or endorse overly complicated rigs. His repeated refrain that reading beach conditions and terrain are far more important than flashy items of kit also makes sense. Gilbey clearly loves fishing and his enthusiasm is infectious. This helped make this documentary fun and easy to watch as his occasional outbursts are entertaining.From a beginner's point of view this is well worth the money and I found it inspiring. My only critcism is that it could have been a bit longer. I can't wait to put these lessons into practice in a couple of weeks time!

this guy goes to the trouble of breaking everything down in easy to follow steps, from tying a knot to howto use your bait and lures..types of line..reels..rods..hooks..casting, spinning...i really enjoyed the dvd and being new to bass fishing found it very helpfull, think i will be going back to this dvd many times, the guy goes on a little, but he knows his stuff and you can tell he loves bass fishing, i really got the feeling this guy wanted to help me catch bass...thanks Henry loved your dvd

I have never written a review but after watching this DVD, I was compelled to, as it is so good.Very informative, shows you how to bait fish for Bass, lure fish, where and when, etc...Mike definitely has a passion for Bass fishing and it certainly shows in this DVD, when at times he is hilariously hysterical, but ultimately just makes you want to go fishing.Has definitely inspired me with confidence and can't wait till I next go fishing, after purchasing some lures.Tight lines!!

Expected more and was a little disappointed if I am honest. I felt the lure fishing section could have been updated with more modern lures and techniques. Would have liked to have seen footage of other areas in UK.

The man is obviously not stupid, but he is a complete twonk. There is very very very little usable info on this DVD, just this man going on, and on, and on, about how he wants to 'spank' the bass he catches, and how many times he can fit the word 'muller' into his description of fishing. Realise it now, think he is trying to be the Jamie Oliver of bass fishing. I am very embarrassed to have spent money on this. Wouldn't recommend it at all. And amazon doesn't allow giving it NO STARS, as it deserves, hence the ridiculous one star rating. Buy the book 'Hooked on Bass' instead. Twonk.
