Excellent Entry-Level Managed 10G Fiber Switch
I've been using the TL2-F7120 for over a year now, and for the price, it’s been excellent. I haven’t had many issues with it since I bought it, though I haven't thoroughly tested every feature, and it does have quite a few. It’s a managed Layer 2 switch, and while it doesn’t offer advanced Layer 3 features, that’s expected at this price point. It’s still a step above your typical basic managed switch, with solid configuration options. It also isn’t vendor-locked, so it works with any SFP or SFP+ module I’ve tried. I haven’t tested it with RJ45 modules, since those tend to run hot and I generally avoid them for that reason.QoS support is there, including DSCP, which is important if you're using it with something like Dante. Dante is sensitive to latency and dropped packets, and this switch has handled it without any problems.VLAN also works. I used it to place my Dante devices on its own VLAN.The fan is usually very quiet — I rarely even notice it.

Great product
This is a great switch, fast throughput. It is in managed but great for small network.

10G is the minimum for a real Ceph cluster
My company has a small Ceph cluster that was running over gigabit ethernet. Upgrading to 10 gigabit made Ceph finally work the way it was intended. Everything is snappy now! The switch supports bonding (2 cables running to each server) for reliability and VLANs for improved security.

Mixed feelings about the TL2-F7120 switch
I have mixed feelings about the TL2-F7120 switch. The reason I purchased the product was to use it as my primary core switch for my other multi-speed TRENDNet switches. All of them have SFP+ connectors for their backbones and I wanted to link them back to this one.The first unit was dead on arrival. Fortunately, it was quickly replaced with a second unit a few days later. It’s been up and running ever since. My issue now is the firmware. All of the key features I use work, but the reporting aspects are a little off. On my network, a couple of my SFP+ connections are purposely set to 1GbE or 2.5GbE. However, the switch always shows the connection as 10GbE. Granted, this minor in the overall design of the product. However, these two experiences make me wonder about its overall quality. For this reason, I can only give my recommendation as 4 stars.Potentially, this could be a GREAT product. I just hope TRENDNet Engineering takes a step back and does a slightly better job at quality control and regression testing the hardware with other SFP+ connectors.

Awesome switch
Purchased 2 of these for NetApp cluster switches and they worked perfectly.Provides functionality I would only expect from true enterprise switches.

Works with 800 ft single mode fiber run
I'm using this to connect 2 buildings with fiber at 10gbit. It works great and i can also connect all my servers to it with dac cables. very good buy.
