Cooks Professional Automatic Kitchen Bin 30L Stainless Steel Hands Free Motion Sensor Waste Rubbish Dustbin (Cream)

4 stars says I like(d) it - but it stopped working after about 6 weeks. Very frustrating because its a useful concept to be able to open a bin with the swipe of a hand & have it close automatically & quietly a few seconds later. Returning it for a refund or replacement is also time consuming & frustrating, because this product model has been discontinued so I have to take the refund & now look for a replacement. Its a pity because I've used this company before for various products & always found them to be good.

The picture bears no resemblance to the reality. Made the mistake of ordering this, only to get a bin half the height. Poor

The picture shows a tall slim bin the one I received is short and fat ,and every time you walk past it it opens. I have only had it for two days and it is annoying me already.. Also the bin is metal but the lid is a hard plastic.

The bin is for our recently modernised bathroom and fits in well, looking very smart.It was quickly delivered, only 48hrs, and well packed.It doesn't come with batteries, but these are easily obtained D cells, they are simple to fit.The bin works extremely well, it has either buttons to open it manually or you can just wave your hand above the sensor and it opens, closing automatically some 8 seconds later.It needed careful positioning to prevent it opening as you reached for neighbouring items, towels etc., but once this was achieved, it works very well.It takes standard pedal bin liners and so should stay nice and clean inside.Altogether I have no hesitation in recommending this bin.

I bought this in August. Motion detector very sensitive so constantly opens as you walk past. The top of the bin lid round the hinges and edges got very dirty and was fiddly to clean. I would have managed with all of those niggles if it wasn’t for the fact that the lid totally broke off at the hinges (probably from cleaning efforts!) and therefore the sensor didn’t work nor was it possible to lift the lid without it falling closed again immediately. This was within 7 months of purchase 😐 don’t bother! Now at the dump and new simple bins in place!

The bin is rather short, the sensor is also difficult to activate due to height and is noisy when closing, great price for this type of bin however.Also note if you want to return it it’s £13 so check the height before you buy !

When this bin arrived there were several small dents in the metal. This made me query its quality and durability. I contacted the company who sent me prepaid postage label and it was then easy to return.The colour and style is good.

I got this as a wedding gift for a friend. I thought it was 'over the top' and completely unnecessary to have a motion sensor bin, but after testing it out my fiance and I are putting a motion sensor bin on our wedding registry too. It's definitely worth it. Takes a few tries to figure out where to wave but easy enough to use.
