Simple and accurate
There seem to be a lot of similar devices on Amazon sold by brands I've never heard of. This one had reliable reviews and the brand is also sold in at least one of the major big box home improvement chains. Operation is very simple and, based on some checks I did, it's very accurate and far faster than fussing with measuring tape.

This worked perfectly right out of the box. Very accurate. It was extremely helpful when measuring distance over a wall. no need for a tape measure. streching over the room. great for angles as well when building supports.
