Gear affordable alternative lens to fuji's 50mm. The lens hood feels like it's made of titanium lol.

View my review as a concern. Four ignored emails to Viltrox customer support, each asking the same simple question about lens compatibility. Caveat Emptor. I will spend my money on other brands.

You all want to know how this works as far as photos. I've only had it for a couple days and managed a few shots. I think they came out looking pretty crisp and colorful. I'm not a pro, so my opinion isn't as critical. I'm not worried about winning an award or selling my photos. For the price, the images so far look really good. Focus is fast and clear.It is also a nicely put together lens. Not real heavy, right between the heavy duty metal ones and the plastic Fuji XC line of lenses. Perfect form my small body Fuji X-T30. It has an aluminum light hood. Smooth focus.If you watch video reviews, it is a well liked lens.

Due to its size and weight, this doesn't balance well on smaller Fuji bodies like the X-E series or the XT-20/30. However, it is a very nice match with XT-1/2/3/4/5 and I am sure the X-H series. Stunning combination of sharp focal plane and superb bokeh. In the same league as the Tamron SP 35/1.4 in this respect. Great AF, great build quality. Almost Apochromatic! Just a fantastic portrait lens! - and I say that as someone who has shot portraits and weddings professionally with lenses like the Canon 85/1.2L and Voigtlander 125/2.5 APO-Macro.

Gran lente. Calidad premium, totalmente sellado, silencioso, colores y nitidez muy buena. Es algo pesado pero vale la pena cargarlo. Lo tengo en la Fuji XT5 y ha funcionado de maravilla. Totalmente recomendable.

Ich bin unter anderem wegen diesem Objektiv vom Canon R System zu Fujifilm gewechselt! Bisher fehlten mir im APS-C Bereich eine Linse, die an den Bildlook einen Canon 135mm F2 oder 85mm f1.2 heran kam... TADAA!! Bildlook ist wunderschön! Fast perfekt scharf schon bei Offenblende! Verarbeitung auf höchstem Niveau! Autofokus nach Firmware Update auch absolut ausreichend! Nur Sportszenen und/oder spielende Kinder oder Hunde werden schwierig. Das war aber mit dem 85er 1.2 von Canon auch nicht einfach...Der größte Kritikpunkt wäre für mich die Gegenlichtblende: Diese ist -für VILTROX untypisch - nur aus Plastik und nicht mehr aus metall.das ließe sich noch verschmerzen, aber die Gegenlichtblende sitzt im Neuzustand schon sehr locker. Das können andere deutlich besser...Alles in allem aber ein Monster von einem Objektiv!!!

I have owned both the old 56 1.2 R and the 90mm F2, also I have owned the sigma 85 1.4 dg dn ART and a couple of other portrait lenses. I shoot weddings, events and portraits as a semi pro.No issues using this lens as a semi pro!Bought 2, 1 for a friend and 1 for myself.Dutchie, but English is probably better...Optics:- sharp wide open- razorsharp from F2-2.8- (nice) rainbow flares wide open to f2.8 (mostly gone at F2) when a light is in or just out of the frame- a little bit of ghosting to go along with the flares, mostly gone at F2, gone at 2.8 when a light is in or just outside of the frame.- bokeh is super nice, even with full body shotsBuild:- WR- aperture ring feels a bit "sharp"- the lens hood is very lose on both of the samples I had, almost no "click" and they can come loose out of their own- It is somewhere between ok and good- it is a chonky boy, feels a bit like the sigma 85 1.4 dg dn in the handAF:- Pretty snappy after the firmware update! (used on xt-3's and 5)- a lot better than the old 56 R, slightly worse than the 90F2Overall:Focal lenght is a bit getting used to. Feels a bit weird shooting this lens, but I love the images coming out of this lens. It is a special lens, for when you need something special. It has some minor "flaws" but in my opinion this gives the lens karakter. I love a good flare, the lens hood is meh. The flaws are minor. The strenghts are awesome. First things first, Viltrox reverse engineered Fuji's auto-focus... And they have done it very well, to the point where it fully operates like a Fuji lens! I feel this is very good value for a fully featured lens especially when compared to Fuji's first party lenses. There is some chromatic aberrations when wide open (that can be fully fixed on post) that disappear a couple stops down, and beyond that it is a nearly perfect lens. It outperforms its price tag and by a lot. I would like to see more Fuji X mount lenses from viltrox, perhaps a zoom lens as there really is not much in the way of third party lenses with auto-focus.My only wish was that it was weather sealed but given the USB port it is understandable although a little rubber plug and sealing would have huge and made this a no brainer over Fuji's 90mm.
