Looks and feels great. Decent protection. Signal loss is horrendous. USB doesn't charge.
Great case. Fits well and has decent protection. Feels good in the hand and all ports/buttons are easily accessible and have good action.Drawbacks1. It doesn't work with 100% of the mods. Does not affect me, but it would be a concern for those heavily invested in multiple mods. I have the battery, the camera, the speaker and a style shell. All fit just fine.2. USB-C connector opening is just a bit too small to fit most charging cables. They still click in and charge and stay put, but they fail to fully "seat", making it a bit easier for the cord to pop out. I have had times where I've plugged it in, set it down, come back an hour later only to find that the plug didn't make the connection. I recommend the wireless charging system to work around this if it's an issue for you.3. Clasp is strong, but multiple lock/unlock cycles to take the case on and off is not recommended as it might wear down the latch.4. Signal loss is atrocious. There are weak spots at my workplace where with the case, I get no signal. If I remove the case, I get two bars. This is for both the wifi and the 4G antenna.

Perfect way to make a bumper case!
I originally was usi a case from Tudia and a bumper case from Verizon. Said bumper case started wearing out when I took it off (Won't fit the gamepad mod) and I couldn't use my turbopower pack with Tudia. This is my favorite case thus far when combi with a style mod!Love how it latches together to prevent wear and makes it easy to take off for mods not the same size as a shell or battery mod. (Like the 360 camera or gamepad) Seems pretty durable, but you'll need a style shell for padding in the back. This alone won't protect the rear of the phone.Since it's all metal, I was concerned about signal interference. Thankfully that isn't present during my trip around town. I have Simple Mobile (T-mobile MNVO prepaid carrier) and noticed no difference in signal.Overall it's the best bumper case for the Z2 Play at the moment. I would like to see an upgrade where the corners are made with rubber or TPU.

Well constructed, except for the clasp
The frame itself is well constructed and I'm pleased with the quality, especially for the price. It fits well, provides room for all moto mods to fit, has access points for both the earphone and charger, and seamlessly works with the phone's buttons. Finally, it isn't so large that this already big phone doesn't become unwieldy. The reason I downgraded the score is that the clasp that holds the frame on the phone is poorly constructed and does not stay shut. As such, you can't attach a wrist cord using the provided link as doing so would pull the frame off the phone. I've used a tacky material to help keep the clasp closed, which is too bad. Should the clasp improve, or if I just have a defective model, this bumper case would be an excellent purchase.

Precision fit for Z2 Play
Good fit, classy look, and lightweight. Works fine with wireless charging shell. Definitely not a heavy duty item, but should keep the edges from getting scratched and since 1mm or so of projects above the screen side, it should help reduce scratching of the screen shield I added.Update: I dropped phone and the "case" --which is really just an edge protector that should protect the phone is such circumstances--fell off. Now the catch on the corner that secures the case in place will not stay fixed in place when I close it -- it just keeps popping open. So the case has become useless. I am going to ask for a refund!

Charging cut out too small affects signal
It's well made but slippery like all moto things. My biggest complaint is that the USB C port cut out is too small to fully insert the cable that came with the phone. You need and after market cable or you can't touch while it's charging because the cable comes just loose enough to stop charging without falling out. Finally the metal frame definitely affects signal strength. Visiting family where the signal is weak requires me to remove it to get any signal. My phone works fine without the bumper.

Exactly what I wanted. Mod friendly, stylish, well made.
I wanted a bumper case that would still be compatible with my Incipio battery mod. This works perfect. When looking for a case I wanted one that was a little more robust than the rubber bumper that is offered through Verizon. I also was worried about mod compatibility. So far this has been a GREAT and simple case. I am still able to use my Incipio battery all the time with wireless charging, so I am able to have both a rubber back AND classy aluminum bumper sides. I don't know for sure if it will work with all other mods (I only have an Incipio Battery) but if I had to guess, it appears to have a perfect fit and clearance for any mod. There is no wiggle at all in how it fits. Just a nice snug well made piece of equipment. I'm amazed that I am the first to write a review because more people with a Moto Z2 Play should be buying this case. I would recommend this to anyone so far. I've only had it a short time but expect it to last. I'll update if that changes.

Looks great, functions great, with one MAJOR issue
This case looks beautiful, adds rigidity to the phone, and is extremely well-made. However, it effects the antenna in my phone significantly, to the point that I don't get service at all in many areas I used to. This reduced signal strength also drains the battery noticibly, and I had to go back to my old soft bumpers. In short: great execution of a bad idea.

Not "precisely" diamond cut
It's a great case and it looks nice. But, is it actually "precisely" diamond cut? The different angles are cut uneven on the corner. My original charger does not plug in because the hole cut out isn't straight.EDIT: In the end I had to return it because the latch quit latching after a few weeks of having it.
