OXO Good Grips Little Dustpan and Brush Set

I was buying stuff to set up my first vivarium and it was suggested that I get a small dustpan and brush in order to thoroughly clean it. I wasn’t 100% sold on the idea, I mean will I really need it? Anyway I saw this one and liked the design, it’s a little different so I thought I’ll add it on to the list and give it a go, turns out it came in useful almost immediately as I managed to drop a heat bulb while trying to screw it in and it smashed all over the (empty) vivarium. It is actually quite spacious inside and it can hold a fair amount of glass, it is also perfect for getting around the inside of the viv, so all in all a great investment.

We ordered two dirt cheap £1.40  Generic Mini Dustpan sets  from 'LTZmart' that had a 13cm dustpan width, as we wanted a small portable dustpan+brush for the family tent when camping, having trodden on our old grey 'Butler's dustpan & brush set' (which was great at £3.99 but is no longer made). However these Mini dustpans just weren't robust enough for regular camping use, so we tried this far more expensive £6.99 OXO Good Grips compact dustpan and brush that has a 16cm wide x 4cm high dustpan. Initial impressions are that this OXO unit is far more solid and robust (indeed it's probably the most solidly built dustpan and brush set that we have ever bought in moulded plastic). It looks exactly like the photo and the brush clips [quite tightly] into the dustpan for storage. The brush bristles are firm, but still more flexible than the stiffer type of dustpan brush (in fact the bristles are virtually the same resilience as the cheap mini dustpan&brush set). Although the OXO Good Grips dustpan edge is only 3cm wider than the cheap generic mini-dustpan at 16cm, the extra width [and height] is noticeably more effective in sweeping than the cheaper generic set. Just what we wanted for for putting into the camping kit bag, so 5*, even at £6.99 each. Although we use this OXO compact for dirty floor use in the tent, it would also be fine reserved for table-top sweeping. The OXO Compact dustpan doesn't have a hole for hanging on a hook/peg, although it happily stands upright on its small rear base for storage. Generic Mini Dustpan sets

I had the predecessor to this product by OXO which was more of a conventional shaped dustpan. It was great and it was why I purchased this new version. However I find that the dustpan is just the wrong shape. The design of the pan means it is just not deep enough so when you sweep toward it a lot of the dust and crumbs actually end up on top of the pan instead of in it. It's still a tidy size and I still use it but would have preferred the first design I had.

I needed someone to swiftly pick up the hairs and dust around my small room and pack away neatly without any misplacement, this brush set has offered me precisely that.The brush neatly packs inside and is so compact, the set works as a nice ornament to place on a shelf or desk. When it's time to brush, the brush has lush bristles, tightly packed together with no fraying bristles, to sweep up into the mini dustpan. I have not felt the difficulty others have reported with getting just into the pan. Yes, it does need a few more sweeps to get it into the pan but nothing so detrimental that makes this set dysfunctional. I love this nifty brush set priced well according to its value.

This is a fantastic dustpan and brush set. It's so good that I bought a second one! (I lost the first one...). We bought the current brush in May and have had no issues after 7 months of use. It's perfect for clearing up small messes and is small enough to store out of sight. The brush clips nicely back into the pan and has never slipped out. Comes highly recommended.
