Hypertech 32500 Max Energy Power Programmer Black, 8.6 Inch

You have to download the program with a computer, then installing it in the vehicle is easy. Slightly more torque, and better shift points in the transmission make the vehicle more fun to drive. Worth it.

Just installed my new Hypertech Max Energy in my 2005 Silverado z71 extended cab with the 5.3. Installation was very easy. I did review the instructions online prior to installing. I got en error to start off but the fix was to just unplug and plug the programmer back in per the instructions on the screen. I added the following tuning. I did the extreme regular unleaded tune. Raised my rev limiter to 5,800. Changed my tire size to 32.25 to match my new BFGs. Changed the 1-2 shift up 100 rpm, changed the 2-3 shift up 500 rpm, ( the stock shift point for the 2-3 was 5,000 which was way too low as it dropped the revs down too far out of the power band after the shift) and I changed the 3-4 up 100 rpm. I chose to firm up the shifts to the 75% level. I also raised my top speed to 106 mph. I left the cooling fan cut on at the same temperature. Now it's hard to quantify how much power this makes but it definitely is more. Also the shift points make a huge difference in how the truck accelerates. The shifts just happen at a better time and they are quicker and more positive feeling. The truck easily reaches the new top speed, surprisingly easy! I did install a Flowmaster supertruck style cat back exhaust about a month ago so I don't know how much these two work together but wheel spin will happen if I don't take it easy. I did a quick errand run on a freeway trip and got 15.5 MPG running at or near 100 almost the entire time. which is about 2 mpg better than before. But obviously that is too short a distance to be very scientific or accurate but it's what I got. The one negative I can think of after this short time with the programmer is the top speed limiter kicks in very hard, almost feels like I stabbed the brakes. For $290ish dollars this added a lot of fun to my old Chevy. Will tow 6,000 pounds with it this weekend. I will update if anything negative comes up.

After installing the program I didn't notice much change at all in the shifting of the automatic. The main thing I wanted was for the shifting to be much firmer, causing the tired to "chirp" when shifting to second gear, etc. I set the programmer to 100%, the maximum firmness available, and was disappointed. It seems to shift a bit firmer, but nowhere near what a shift kit or other Diablo programmer in my previous 02 Z28 would do. I am going to check it for any milage increase and possibly a couple of passes at our drag strip to see if the car is actually making any more power than 2 weeks ago, but for the money it did not do the main thing I wanted, so unless those other numbers are very good, I will be returning it.

I ordered the 32500 to use on my '02 Chevy Avalanche. Upon opening the box, I discovered instructions for Ford vehicles. The programer had a label on the back which read: 42500 96-04 Ford car/truck, 05 Excursion s/n 1650076.I received a factory sealed box which had a factory applied label, covered by a second label. I could barely make out 42500 on the factory label...reading it through the label on top of it. The top label looked as though it was an identifying label, likely placed by Amazon, with what appeared to be bin location info, and the # 32500. Needless to say, it was returned the next day, and re-purchased from a more reliable source.I HIGHLY ADVISE that anyone buying a Hypertech Programmer from Amazon, verify that you've received the proper unit for your vehicle before you use it!!! Look on the back of the programmer itself. It will have the proper identifying info. Also, a dead give away would be the instructions for a different vehicle than the one you bought it for.

Have not used yet but have previous experience with Hypertech with good results. Sold truck before installing.
