Good product!!
The product was very well packed when received. As for the product itself, it was not aesthetically pleasing. I can understand why some of the reviewers here were disappointed. Not the design per se, but the uneven cooking surface. It can put you off, especially if you were expecting the smooth finish of nonstick cookware or even preseasoned cast iron ware of internationally known brands.I wasn’t confident about using it as is (although the product is supposedly preseasoned) and I did think about returning it. Then I changed my mind and thought of giving it a try. And I am glad I did!!The photos that I have attached are of the rice pancakes (velayappams) that I made on my first attempt at cooking on this pan. They were perfect And the pan was as good as non-stick!! I didn’t have to use a truck load of oil (just smeared a little as I do, even on nonstick pans). But I PREPPED THE PAN BEFORE USE and this is how I did it:The first time I washed it slightly vigorously with mild detergent and sponge because of the black residue from the factory. (I didn’t try to get it all out on the first go). Then I wiped it down with cloth (didn’t let it air dry) and left it on the stove burner on low heat to let it dry completely. Next I smeared a fair bit of coconut oil on the pan, (including the non-cavity/cooking areas) and left it on the stove burner on medium heat for about 20 minutes. It will smoke quite a bit - so make sure you leave your gas hood on. :) Then turn off heat. Let it cool and use tissue/cloth to gently wipe down the residue, if any.I repeated this cycle for seven days. (Second day onwards I started using little to no soap to wash it).*I found the heat distribution to be even. No complaints on that front.*As for its durability, it’s too early for me to comment on that as I haven’t used it long enough.* It is pretty heavy (as cast iron is supposed to be).* The size of the cavity is adequate to make MINI uthappams, pancakes or vellayappams. And you get four perfectly-shaped ones!!In all a very good purchase. I suspect that the negative reviews posted here are by folks who don’t know how to use/care for cast iron products.

Must buy authentic
I’m not someone who writes reviews but I had to for this one the uthappam came so tasty and it didn’t stick to the pan even though it came pre seasoned I seasoned it at home with oil kept it in the stove for 15 mins until smoke came out of the pan and then washed dried and kept it with oil for a day and again seasoned it with raw onion and oil .. the trick to keep cast iron non stick is to always store the pan oiled and always dry immediately after washing never keep it wet

Pathetic Product
The product is pathetic. it's not at all Non stic. Food gets stuck badly to the tawa. the handle of the tawa also gets heated and cannot be holded without gloves.

Non stick property good but built quality poor
Today I am writing this review after almost a month of buying this pan. I don’t know how so many YouTubers give positive reviews about Indus Valley cast iron products. May be they’re all paid promotions and the company is giving them some favours for giving a good review. The first impression of a cast iron product is its look. This tawa has so many irregularities on its surface many places it looks like it’s chipped off or has a broken surface. So at first I was hesitant to keep this product. But then I thought of checking its non stickiness. The tawa performed well there. Although before each time I spread my batter, I brushed very little oil in the cavities. But after that I didn’t apply any oil and the uttapams came out perfect. So my conclusion is- if you don’t mind the irregular surface of this tawa, you can go ahead and buy it.In the picture above, I have shared the uttapams made in this pan today. I have also shown the bumps and irregularities on the edges of the tawa in the picture section.

Good product
Pre seasoned and easy to use. Uthappam comes very well . Can buy if you want to make small uthappams. Did not try chappathi as I used uthappam first. So small chappathi should also come very well
