I have used hair chalks in the past but found them messy and nearly impossible to get a nice even block colour but I wanted to jazz up my hair and this pack was on a special offer if you bought it that day. 12 colours that can be used for face paint and hair seemed to be too much of a good offer to turn down.I have fine light brown hair growing out into grey so I put my hair in a bun and tried out the green. It went on really easily and looked fantastic. They are not full length pens but are like a lipstick that winds up for less mess. I think that generally they would be used for multicoloured streaks but I wanted to see how it did as block colour. I used it with dry hair and it covered really well the top and sides but there wasn't enough to do the bun. To be fair I was very heavy handed with it pressing hard and ensuring that it was totally covered with block colour so if I had been less hefty or used a combination of both green pens I could have easily covered it all. For streaks of different colours I think it will be great. It lasted for two days but then started to look a bit patchy so washed it out and it all came out perfectly. The pack included plastic gloves but I didn't need them as I was just drawing straight onto my hair which was flat against my head.Although the advert said for face painting it didn't say anything about face painting on the box and it didn't show up very brightly on my hand but then kids do have a lot lighter skin than adults so it may be fine.I have no idea how it would work on darker hair but on mine it exceeded expectations so I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with it in the future.

So we brought these chalk combs for my daughters birthday. And today we finally used them. And we was not disappointed.I had to use flash for it to show in the picture but even without the flash you can see it. In person it's just beautiful. Easy to use. I separated the hair just to make it a bit easier.I would say I could use the combs about 2 more times for her whole set of hair.Might even buy more for Christmas

Used on dry hair, easy to use and quick to apply. A bit of fall out when first applied and the colour drops out a bit but overall my clothes were fine and the colour lasted all night, very impressed. I sprayed with hair spray after application. Came out easily with a thorough shampoo

Not working really well on dark hairs though. They were fine for blonde hair.

Given as Christmas gifts.No complaints.

I'm at a loss how others have turned out so great when ours barely showed up. My daughter had blonde hair and the colour could barely be seen.What could be seen, barely lasted. Very disappointed.
