Aircast A2 Wrist Support Brace with Thumb Spica

This is the only brace I've tried that really immobilizes my thumb. The metal splint part is not very comfortable but I've bent that area on the non metal ones I tried with my thumb, so it was not immobilized and would not heal. I placed 2/3" thick soft foam padding the entire length of the brace, about 1.5" wide where the metal is and a small piece at the v between my thumb and index finger. It is much more comfortable and very snug, which helps keep it immobile. Nearly healed after a month with this brace so it does work very well. The tenosynovitis has been ongoing for 8 months or so, wish i had found this earlier.

I have severe de Quervains and this brace is the only thing that gives me relief from the pain. I am able to sleep with it on throughout the night without pain and wear it throughout the day without pain. This brace is NOT comfortable but it does what it’s suppose to do. This brace does not cure my de Quervains but it relieves my pain. I have bought about 10 different splints before finding this one and this is by far the best one I have found. You can’t beat the price. I have had shots in my tendon that did not work and for this brace to relieve my pain is a blessing. It definitely stabilizes the thumb and is very durable and well made. I would definitely recommended this brace to anyone. I will buy this brace over and over again.

When I first received this several days ago and put it on, I was screaming inside, disappointed and frustrated because I had been expecting it to be as comfortable as the Aircast without the thumb spica for my right wrist I had used. This version was extremely uncomfortable when I first put it on, around the thumb where the metal was. However I did discover that the metal stay keeping the thumb in place can be removed (as can the volar stay on the palm side of the splint) and you can then bend it pretty easily and make it comfortable. I suppose one might need help with this if they already have pain in their wrist, but it is done easily enough, so I don’t imagine it would be a big deal to get help with this task. It isn’t made so that the thumb part is going to fit most people right out of the package, so I expect that this is a necessary step for most people if they want to be able to wear this. I actually bought another wrist brace immediately after putting this on and before discovering that I could mold it to fit comfortably, and while I found the other brace to be comfortable and pretty supportive, the Aircast one is more supportive than any I’ve ever used (aside from custom made splints, which have their own pros and cons) and I think I prefer the Aircast now. I don’t think I really need the thumb spica and I did manage to find the size Aircast I need (large) for my left wrist without the thumb spica on a different website, as it wasn’t available on Amazon yesterday when I decided I wanted the regular one and I’m hoping it will arrive quickly enough. But this one will work until then and I encourage everyone to adjust the thumb part or it will feel very uncomfortable. I couldn’t have kept wearing it without adjusting it, but I’m even wearing it overnight now.

Very supportive, does its job

Was made of quality material and was comfortable and effective at limiting movement on wrist and thumb upon first putting it on. Straps held it on well.My wrist is small, but the length of my fingers and hand are long. I also have a very gradual curve between my thumb and wrist. This caused the angle of the rod along the thumb side of my wrist to press against a tendon making it numb over time, preventing me to use it as my doctor requested. The seam joining the thumb portion of the splint was also thick and left deep, uncomfortable marks at the base thumb. I was unable to wear even loosely, and eventually had to remove the bar, but then it was not a very effective brace. This may have been because of the shape of my wrist/hand, or may have been because of the joint in the brace.

I had a wrist protector before and it was a small size. I bought this one in a small and it was entirely to small. It was painful, uncomfortable and left imprints whenever I took it off. Found out they will only accept the item if it was not worn and unopened. How in the world am I supposed to know if it would fit unless I tried it on???? I ordered a medium and it fit better but if I had known that the order couldn't be returned I would not have purchased from them again. Never again!!!! Unless you are 100% that you know your size don't purchase because you will be stuck if it doesn't fit. Oh well buyer's remorse. The medium is also a little tight but bearable. Oh one more thing it is kind of tight to take off. Since you have to wear it because of an injury you don't want it to hurt to take off.

Excellent support. Robust product. A little fiddly to put on but follow the instructions and all will be well

Perfect support. The correct size. Just the right amount of movement in fingers and thumb to be able to carry on with mists tasks while wearing it.

I broke my arm and wrist and two weeks after the surgery I was in an NHS splint, I bought a few different ones online to swap around and this one is without a doubt the best. It’s well made has an extra bar in it, grips well is comfortable doesn’t pinch or itch and is super adjustable. I couldn’t be happier with this brace.
