Vegans wishing to add Omega-3 to their diet have an option in this product. Plant based algae oil fits the bill. However, comparing this product to my current Omega-3 fish oil, the potency doesn't stack up. My current product has 900 DHA and 800 EPA per two capsules. This product has 300 DHA and 150 EPA per two capsules, the same recommended serving.It is a bit pricier than fish oil, as well. But for vegans, this would be the winner.

I am sold on using an omega 3 supplement for the many beneficial effects. While the research about those are incomplete (at best) at least it does not seem harmful to take. I have only recently become aware of one very important issue around fish oil which is the chemical composition. Natural fish oils are triglycerides. Processed fish oils are in ethyl ester form, which are prone to spoil very quickly. There is an extra, more costly, manufacturing step which some companies use to reconvert the fresh ethyl esters back into triglycerides to improve shelf life. This product bypasses that whole issue and for that reason I have moved to mostly krill and algal oil. I love that this product is manufactured in the Netherlands, as I have developed a distrust of US nutraceuticals due to lack of regulations and many examples of documented shenanigans where the supplements have little or none of the advertised ingredients. Hopefully the Netherlands has better standards. Anyway the dose of EPA/DHA is a bit low in this product. As I like to add some omega 3 to every meal this would represent a very short supply for me. Since algal oils are much cheaper and easier to manufacture than fish oil, I hope the current pricing will come down over time and this stuff will be more accessible in better dosages. Besides all that stuff, I think this is a really good was to go for your omega 3 supplementation and this appears to be a reasonable product to try.

I've been taking various brand and types of omega 3 supplements for months now. I'm a healthy 60 year old vegetarian who eats a balanced diet. I really don't notice difference in my health as it is already great, but since I want to stay that way, and taking omega 3 is doctor recommended, I am going to do as suggested. I love that these EkoPura brand are plant based vegan rather than the kinda gross fish oil. These don't smell like anything or give me indigestion. The product is really fresh and the capsules are really tiny which makes them super easy to swallow. These are reasonably priced and one pouch is a six week supply. The environmentally friendly packaging is a first, and I appreciate their effort! Makes it a little odd to store, but easy to find and feels like I'm eating a treat rather than a typical supplement.
