As described it gets hot

i bought this as i do alot of conesole repairs and to be fair for what it is its a great little work horse definitely a good buy in my opinion

I had one of these before so I know how it functions. Pro's first. The machine is well mad and heats very quickly and keeps you informed, by a LED readout, on it's progress. The machine is earthed as far as the plug (see Con's), this includes the screws, case and bracket support. The main difference on this machine is the mains lead feeds directly into the machine rather than a kettle plug and the cable is shorter. There is a fuse, immediately in the live wire, which is correct. The temperature is quite accurate to the display. It certainly does SMD work without issue. Con's. The mains lead is quite short and becomes even shorter after cutting off the Chinese/USA plug. The foreign plug comes with an adaptor for UK use but it does NOT connect to the Earth pin in anyway, result is NO earthing. Remedy, replace cable, which does have a three core wire, or replace plug. I replaced plug with an UK plug with 3 amp fuse. Now it is safe but warranty is now void presumably, I prefer to live and sacrifice warranty. In actual fact, this should not be sold in the UK in its present condition Amazon. It is metal and MUST be earthed.

Realy good quality and fast shipping

After reading other UK based reviews I was expecting to have to upgrade the plug myself to a UK type. The supplier must have responded to the older reviews as the unit I received has a correctly fused 3 pin fully moulded UK plug. After electrically testing, I can also confirm that the metal tool nozzle and the control unit chassis are bonded to the earth pin on the plugtop. I would say buy with confidence.

great price and served me well on some repairs. i have used this to replace several surface-mount components on laptop motherboards, and the only issues i've encountered were due to my own lack of skill, lol.the controls are good and it reliably shuts off when placed in the holder.honestly unclear if this is a genuine product or a clone, but the quality is fine in either case.

I have several Yihua soldering products and impressed with their price/performance ratio. They are reliable and accurate. I use them alongside Hakko stuff, generally on less critical solder jobs.I was worried this might be a counterfeit; there are millions of counterfeit 858d's out there, with grounding and polarity and fuse issues.First, it came with a scratch off Yihua authenticity QR code which verified positive.Second I checked the ground. The SS heater nozzle and the case were solidly connected to the center round ground pin on the AC plug.Third I checked the AC plug polarity. The Hot and Neutral were properly wired.Fourth I checked the Fuse. It was wired to the AC hot, as it should be.In summary, this is a genuine Yihua 858dPerformance wise, it runs 15% little hotter than the indicated temp.Its not a Hakko, but considering the latter costs $2000, this is a good deal.Just avoid those 858d knockoffs!!
