Highly recommend
Purchased this as a kindergarten graduation gift for a boy child. We installed batteries and tested them prior to gifting. The range is excellent. Voice clarity impressive for the price point. Many options, such as a musical sound to *call* with and a press to talk that allows transmission without having to keep the button held down, volume control, multiple channel options. Great value for the money. Would recommend.

Perfect for preschooler
I love that there's a lock function to keep my 5 year old from pushing random buttons and getting on a different channel and I really like that it has a flashlight. It's especially great for camping, where a baby monitor seems unnecessary, but I want my kiddo to be able to call for me easily if needed. The batteries seemed to last a decent amount of time, though I do turn them off when they're not being used, and remove the batteries before storage between trips. The same set of store brand/ generic batteries lasted about 7 nights with the walkie talkies being on 12+ hours overnight, intermittent use of the flashlight, and a very chatty kid who uses the classic bedtime stalling method of asking for something every 3 minutes when they should be asleep.

Walkie Talkies as a Kid's Sleep Aid
Very lightweight and small, perfect for little hands - so adorable! I have already recommended these to friends. I bought these to encourage my kid to feel safe in her room at bedtime with the security of knowing she can call and is not actually alone. We also use them for fun, of course! So far, so good! We have a multistory home and the range is very good, easy to use and the signal is very strong. The volume is quite loud, even on the lowest setting. Headset plug cover on the top seems to be for decoration (like a dummy plug cover). Belt clip is sturdy and works well - my little one likes to clip it to her belt or neckline, and device is light enough not to pull down too heavily, either. To prevent the kids from easily changing the settings (such as channel, volume, and other settings), you can press and hold the Menu button to lock the settings. This helped a lot because at first, curiousity-fueled random button pushing led to my having to reset the channel a few times until I read the directions and figured this lock feature out!The VOX feature allows you to use voice activation to talk instead of having to press the TALK button each time. You can also turn off the "roger beep" (beep made after you stop talking and release your hold on the talk button) and other button beeps (beeps made when you press TALK, volume, scan, menu buttons, etc.) if it's too much beeping for you - the beeps are fairly loud, so if you are using them at night or for hide and seek, they can seem pretty loud at the end of the day or reveal your location pretty easily. My kid likes the 1st call sound which resembles an old school ringing telephone (of the 10 customizable call sounds to choose from, and both units will hear this sound when when one person presses the musical note button), and "white noise" sounds as well (even though technically this happens when pressing the "MON" monitor button, which we haven't really figured out fully yet, lol).

BEST TOY WALK-TALKIES AROUND!!
We bought these a few weeks ago and my boys absolutely LOVE them. Their neighbor friend had a set and they wanted to communicate with him, and eventually a bunch of other families on our block purchased them. The kids play and ride bikes with them constantly. They love the idea that there are different channels so they can communicate "privately" with each other. It's really fun to see how they interact with them since all their friends have one. (And one of the parents bought an extra one to keep an ear out for what's going on!)The picture shows my son communicating to my other son all the way down the block. (You can't even see him in the picture). It actually goes even further! The kids love the flashlight on it for some reason? And they love the ringtone feature as well. They've been dropped multiple times on concrete and have held up fine. They are by far the best walkie-talkies i've ever played with. The biggest plus to them as a parent, (besides keeping my kids entertained) is that there is no static noise! You only hear something when someone speaks or calls. It's SO nice!Only downside is the batteries. They take 4-AAAs and they last just fine. I don't feel it drains batteries by any means, but I'd like to have them be a rechargeable battery pack. There's advantages/disadvantages to that.Overall, fantastic purchase and I'd buy again in a heartbeat!

Great walkies with one negative rub
These walkie talkies really are as good as everyone else says they are. They are fun, and easy to use. They travel far, as my child or give her walkie-talkie to a friend down the street so that they can have conversations across the neighborhood. Or she will do so with me when she's out on a playdate. My one rub is that the back casing that covers the batteries are very loose on both walkies. Is as if the latch is just soft. So with any wrong grip or jiggle the latch falls off. That essentially means that we have to be delicate as to not have any kind of drop slip or bang what these walkies. And since they're being used by a kid and makes for a mess of batteries constantly falling out
