Q: Do I need to take back casing off? Will it measure accurately without taking back cover off?

No, the back should not be removed unless it is already off the watch (in which case care should be observed to make sure the movement inside is not loose and can fall out of the case or shift when rotated to different crown positions). The Timegrapher has a microphone capable of “hearing” and timing the various mechanical “clicks” associated with an oscillating balance wheel and escapement right through the closed watch case. A spring loaded clamp holds the watch securely while it is being “read” by the microphone. If adjustment (regulation) is required, the watch case would then obviously need to be opened, and could be re-checked as noted above (with care to make sure the movement is not going to fall out of the case or shift position when crown position is changed on the microphone clamp), and regulated as required before the back is finally replaced and sealed with any gaskets required. Yes, the power adapter has a standard two prong plug. The on/off switch is also located on this cord. It is a generic power supply provided, and I’m sure that other types of cords can be used as long as the voltage supply to the unit is correct.
