Don't know what to say. The wiring in my car seems to work - 12 volts in one wire at all times - 12 volts in the second wire only when the radio is on - ground tests good. but this unit will only extend if both wires from the unit are connected to the 12 volts on all the time wire. It will go down if one of the wires from the unit is connected to the 12 volts on wire only. I put the unit up and left it up and disconnected all of the power wires so it works as a stationary antenna. But it absolutely does not work as expected.Metra was good enough to ship me a second antenna - cost me $12 to ship the first unit back to them - behavior of both units exactly the same. So my guess is that the unit is not compatible with the 1997 Mazda 626 electrical voltage or amperage in some way.

Needed to replace the antennae of my 1991 BMW 325i. Fits perfectly. Installation is a snap.

Pretty straightforward installation (the kit did not come with instructions, but if you look at the old one and make notes before removing it the replacement is not difficult). The only reason I don't give it a full five stars is that it is too easy to accidentally over-tighten the nut that holds the gasket and bezel to the body of the vehicle. I did just that, but fortunately I had enough thread remaining that I could make the installation work successfully. So go easy when it comes to that part. Otherwise the bottom mounting bracket is flexible enough to bend it into shape for connecting to he bottom of the housing and then to the body of your car. The kit has plenty of wire length so no need to worry about stretching out your wiring harness. All-in-all a good product.

These will be a nice replacement for the factory power antenna if you have a 1G Eagle Talon or Mitsubishi Eclipse.

It was broken when I received it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
