Nice part.

Nice part. Hooked one up to a 6 month old/never-charged 1100mah 18350 and it charged from 3.7v to 4.24v (which is exactly +1% as stated in the spec) starting at about 950ma for about an hour. The large 8pin chip reached 120ºf during this but temps tapered off as charge current did. The red status led lit as expected and I’m waiting now for the green to come on - voltage has not exceeded 4.24v and the current is dropping, dropping, dropping as it nears full charge. All in all this is a very nice part, no muss, no fuss.As the charge current dropped below about 250ma the voltage did rise to 4.26v as measured by a $2 miniature digital voltmeter.The full charge led is blue, not green

3 Stars, But Cheap == 4 Stars

So... Let me start by saying these are cheap, very cheap, and they show it functionally. So far, 1/5 has a capacitor failure within 1hr of use (classic fast blinking charging LED, while charged LED on). They also DON'T support USB-C to USB-C (fine for prototyping and projects though).The ones that do work though work well, and are well assembled.

Cable changes everything…

I had some hiletgo variants and they would not work. I bought these and after reading more someone indicated it may be the cable. I did usbc to usbc and these did not fire up. Soon as I went to usb to c cable the they fired up. Haven’t tested the charging etc, but this should help people that are having difficulty using a usbc cable and the leds not turning on

Works great, not the best packaging

The only issue I've had so far was packaging - the devices were in a plastic bag rather than an antistatic bag. Not what I expected, but probably didn't do any harm. Hopefully they'll fix that in the future.

I dunno about these

A caveat before you read further: I'm an electronics hobbyist with *some* experience, but by no means an expert. I got these because I wanted use a Li-ion battery as a power source for an ESP32. My setup was 18650 cell > this charge controller > 5v boost converter > ESP32.It's been iffy from the start. The main IC on this does get HOT at the start of recharge. Other reviews say this is because it is a linear power converter and has to basically dump the excess wattage to bring the 5v USB input down to the correct charge voltage. I get that, but yeesh. It's too hot to touch at times. I don't feel super confident leaving this unattended.On the plus side, it did recharge my battery a couple times and nothing caught fire lol. Seems to start and stop at the correct voltages as expected. Then everything stopped working. Again, I'm not an expert, so all of this could be on me. TL;DR does it work? Yep. Is it ideal? Really not sure.

Works with 3.7v lipos

I used this with a 3.7v 1c lipo and powered a raspberry pi with it - it provided enough power to the pi along with connected devices. I greatly recommend this to anyone trying to make project that requires a rechargeable battery rather then trying to make this charger yourself. It also has a led which indicates if it’s charging or full. Also has some easy solder points
