As a beginner to whetstones, I've found this to be a great introduction. Works great
I've got some nice kitchen knives at home and I with them I got a sharpener and whilst this has been great it's set at a particular angle (it's a pull through one) and not suitable for all blade types.I've recently bought a couple of multitool knives and one in particular came quite blunt. I've also got some blunt knives in the kitchen which I've stopped using because I've not wanted to put them through the sharpener provided with the expensive knifes.I've seen a number of pull through sharpeners which I've thought about buying but my dad's always sworn by a whetstone and whilst I'd never used one, you can't argue with traditions which have lastedfor such a long time. When this arrived I soaked it in water as per the instructions and watched a few videos on youtube whilst I was waiting before setting to work with my first knife. It's difficult to judge an exact angle but as long as your consistent with it, I don't think it matters too much if your slightly out (within reason). The stone works brilliantly and the knife and a couple I've done afterwards are much sharper. With practice I'm sure I'm going to become much better. The stone, being double sided is great as it saves needing 2 seperate ones which saves space. The stone fits really nicely into the wooden base and is held solidly in place by the rubber between them. There is also rubber under the base which keeps it from slipping around on the table.I'm glad I bought this whetstone over some of the cheaper pull through ones.

Razor sharp after 5 minutes
The media could not be loaded. After using for just 5 minutes, I had my old ready for the bin knives razor sharp again.Amazing, also the angle guide that comes with it meant my knife was sharpened at the perfect angle with ease ... I also must mention how quick my item was delivered, very rapid . I'd highly recomend this product for ease of use and also it's a very nice looking stone too .

Nice high quality set
The presentation of the box made me think it had come straight from Japan which was really nice. The wooden base has a high quality finish. Stone itself works well, the knife angle holder is not great as it doesn't really work on anything other than a chef knife. The stone smoother is very coarse and smaller than I thought but I guess you could still use it. Overall, a nice starter, you just buy new stones and use the same base after this.

Stable non slip mount
Angle guide not easy to use with smaller knives. Judged the sharpening angle by eye. Used under running water to get the best result and leave a clean stone afterwards. Did a good job.

It really dose the job.
I am so happy with this product. Money worth spreading. It really sharpened my knife and took off the dents on the blade.

Great knife sharpener
Bought for my son’s penknife. So far he’s sharpened all my kitchen knives twice and his grandad’s tools, plus his own. Great piece of kit and gave the wow factor as a stocking filler gift for a 15 year old who is autistic and only likes what he likes.

Good quality wet stone
Works very well, all knives are sharp again :-)The angle guide is also very helpful in the beginning as I can’t say I am a professional in knife sharpening but with some good will and some YouTube videos not that hard to do.

Great results but needs lots of time and patience
No issue with the stone itself, but if you've never used one before, be aware that it takes a huge amount of time and patience to learn how to use it and you need a fair bit of time to do one knife. It's also not very practical as you have to prepare the stone in advance and use it on a surface that can handle a lot of water being poured on it.This is not the tool for a quick sharpen 2 minutes before you need to carve your Sunday roast!
