Pleasant Hearth Ascot Small Glass Fireplace Doors

Wow, I'm glad I got this! We refinished the tile on our 1940's fireplace. Someone put ugly 12" shiny tile over the original tile, so we replaced it with off-white, aged subway tile. I also found the original tiling on the hearth. I tried another style of screen before this one, but it just didn't work. This however is perfect. It sits flush to the tile against the fireplace. You can open the doors in an accordion fashion and still see the fire glowing. If you open the glass doors completely, the closed screen keeps the embers from popping out.The heat from the fireplace is excellent. We discovered that having this flush feature to the tile surface really helps warm the room. Our previous fireplace door had the hanging screen and glass doors and sat about 2 inches away from the tile...all that business kept the heat out. This is much more efficient.The other great feature is that I was able to assemble it like butter! If you lay everything out and actually read the instructions and study the diagram, you too can do it! I was impressed how well it is put together and the insulation is made perfectly - fits into the slots just right. Be patient, young grasshoppers!Anyway, I'm thrilled with the overall look. For whatever reason, it's like having an insert because of the way it's efficiently working now. I'm a happy camper this cold, cold winter. The ONLY downside is be careful when opening the screen...the little knobs get really hot, so if you expect that and don't hold on to the knob while opening, you won't whine because it wasn't made perfectly. I'd say version 2.0 just needs to put a hardier or alternative hardware for the screen door.

I was having my fireplace refaced and need doors for a slightly odd sized opening and these were the perfect size. I was hesitant due to the low price, but decided to try them out. My carpenter installed them quickly and with no issues. They look good and function as needed. I have them over a gas fireplace, so they will not be exposed to very high heat…I’ll update this if anything changes, but right now I’d recommend them.

This is a well made product and it looks great. I works perfectly in our fireplace at 1/2 the price of the expensive custom enclosures.Install Issues:The comments on the other reviews are mostly correct. They don't provide enough insulation with the product. One more insulation pack would be perfect. You get about 1/2 of what you need even if you split the precut sections.I ordered the small enclosure. This works with openings that are 22.5 to 29.5 high. If your opening is less than 24". it is a tricky install and the directions are not clear. My opening was 24" and it fit but it was a little tight. Anything lower would have been an issue. Other than those two issues, the product installed easily. It took me about 45 minutes to install.I think we made the right choice with this enclosure. It looks great it would have received a 5 if the fit was not so tight. I would recommend this product for fireplaces that are cinderblock like mine and 24" or higher.

Perfect for what we needed to upgrade and modernize our fireplace look after staining the brick white. Wasn’t horrible to install but wasn’t easy either.

This fireplace glass door is excellent. It fits the fireplace opening perfectly and make it possible to close off the fireplace as soon as we are finished with the fire. It is neat and clean and looks very handsome in our living room. The installation was simple and straightforward even though we have an unusual shaped lintel. Once you understand the concept of the clips, it went right in. I think the the quality of the door and frame is excellent and works very cleanly. They doors and frame form an very tight and good looking closure for fireplace. It was well worth the cost which, by the way was very reasonable. The cost of shipping was high but the discounted price on Amazon made up for the shipping cost. I would buy this fireplace door system again.

We are refinishing our fireplace, painting tile and building a new surround and mantle. We didn’t have doors before, only a fireplace screen and since our fireplace is gas, we really didn’t need the screen, just something to keep the cats and dog nosing around in it. We were also loosing a ton of heat and air conditioning not having it covered. I didn’t realize how much until we put this piece on and I was standing in front of it. I also took the black screens out of it, since we don’t have to worry about sparks, so it was nice that this was an option. We have glass in the bottom of our fireplace, and the screen blocked that view. I am just in love with the doors! Perfect! I included a in progress picture of the fireplace, we still need to finish the rest of the wood surround, but you can see how nicely the doors look. I also included an early in project picture so you could see the fireplace without any doors.
